A narrow, deep canyon with turquoise water near the Balda monastery.
Balda Canyon Natural Monument lies in the village of Second Balda, near the Balda Monastery of the Dormition, 295 metres above sea level. The Abasha river cut it into the limestone of the southern Askhi massif.
The canyon is about 1,400 metres long, 5–10 metres wide and 25–30 metres deep, and its water is strikingly clear and blue.
It is easy to combine with Martvili Canyon and the Kaghu waterfall: all three fit into one day.
