Canyons in one day: a route from Salkhino
Martvili Canyon, Balda, Kaghu, and Okatse in the afternoon: how to plan the day.
Photo: KareljFrom Salkhino you can see several canyons and waterfalls in one day. This is our favourite route.
Morning: Martvili Canyon
Martvili Canyon opens at 10:00. Arrive early, before the crowds: walk the circular trail first, then take the boat.
Midday: Balda and Kaghu
Balda Canyon and the Kaghu waterfall are close to each other. In summer bring swimwear: Kaghu's cold water is the best thing on a hot day.
Afternoon: Okatse
Okatse Canyon is about an hour away. In summer it closes at 18:00, so arrive before 16:00. If you have time left, the Kinchkha waterfall is nearby.
Evening: Salkhino
End the day in Salkhino with a walk in the Dadiani park and a Megrelian dinner with Ojaleshi.
Tips
- buy tickets in advance at nationalparks.ge;
- wear comfortable shoes and bring water;
- opening hours change with the season, so check before you go.
